Sigma Club Holds Press Conference Ahead of Public Lecture

The Sigma Club University of Ibadan, held their Press conference in preparation for the 11th edition of its public lecture at the Sigma Office in the Kunle Adepeju building, University of Ibadan.

In attendance at the press conference were the Sigma Chief, the Sigma Chief Whip, delegates from mainstream medias and press organizations in University of Ibadan.

At the Press Conference, it was stated that the public lecture will hold on 3rd of July 2025, at the Alumni Hall, University of Ibadan.

The public lecture is to hold in honor of Old Chief Adeshola Adedutan, Former CEO of First Bank. The event is slated for 10 am.

The public lecture, which is the eleventh of it’s kind, is themed “Leveraging technology for mass employment, wealth and poverty alleviation”.

The lineup of guest expected for the program were also listed out.

They include the CEO of MTN, Dr Karl Toriola who would be the guest speaker, the Pro Chancellor of Lead City University, The chairman of the day, His Excellency Engineer Seyi Makinde, the Governor of Oyo state and the father of the day, Old Sigmite, Dr Ganni Adeniran.

“Earlier, the previous venue was the International Conference Center, University of Ibadan, but was later changed to the Alumni Hall due to in-house decisions “

The Sigma Chief in person of Toyinbo Ayodeji gave a speech and confirmed the presence of His Excellency, the Oyo State Governor, Oluseyi Makinde.

He also mentioned that this year’s public lecture will be held to also commemorate the 75th anniversary of the club.

Speaking on the unique nature of this year’s public lecture, the speech being on Technology, the Sigma Chief explained that it is a topic that can’t be overlooked.

In his words, “Due to the huge breakout of the populace in Tech, it is inevitable for us to talk about it, and also this is the first time that the topic on Technology will be spoken about”

The public lecture is expected to cater for a population of over 700 people .
