Sigma Club, University of Ibadan, on Sunday March 17th held its award night to celebrate outstanding loyalists, winners of the Sigma essay competition and Sigma scholarship.
Ogunsola Emmanuel’s essay, which described philanthropy as giving someone an ‘Aguero moment’ emerged winner of the Sigma Essay Contest 2024 and he was awarded two hundred thousand naira.
Addressing his success, he thanked God for the gift of creativity and Sigma Club for creating a platform for the expression of creativity.
Coming in second place and third place were Ayoola Victor O. and Oluwabukola Dorcas who won ₦150,000 and ₦100,000 respectively, while Omotunde Tobiloba and Akinteye Michael came fourth and 5th respectively.
The remaining ten students who made the shortlist were each awarded certificates of participation.
The Sigma Club awarded scholarships to exceptional students (Sigma Scholars) from various departments while outstanding personalities within the club were also awarded with certificates.
Prominent dignitaries such as Covenant Odedele, the President of the University of Ibadan Students’ Union, other executives of the Union, past Chiefs of the club and other guests graced the occasion.
