Hey Young Man, what are you complaining about already? What is so wrong about the Archaeology/Tech road? Are there gullies there already? Has it caused any accident? Has anyone died on the road? Has any top official in the University Senate lost his or a family member’s life there? In fact, have YOU even died on the road? If your answers to all these would be a ‘No’, then clearly, you are dillusioned. Shut up!
Don’t you understand you are in school?! A Federal University for that matter. You are one of the few privileged ones enjoying these almost-free education by our magnanimous government. If you want to remain here, you have to learn the dynamics of these ‘city’. Let me hint you a little, because I love you and I want you to graduate, so you’ll go and look for a job for three years (minimum) and later work for the government as a wage-slave and be owed salary for like a year and probably die a poor pensioneer. (actually the word sounds like professional, like ‘engineer’, ‘auctioneer’).
The V.C does no wrong, the professors are always right, the lecturers are Omnipotent, the top non-teaching staff are Omnipresent. And if you agree less, you may be expelled. Because that means you are not fit in character and learning (how to shut the hell up in the face of oppression and extortion and administrative decadence).
I heard some of you lazy young men and ladies talking about how water is scarce, how electricity has been epileptic, how your inverters (that power bulbs only) go off within 30 mins of power outage, how the heat has been killing you ‘softly’, how…and so on and so crap. Smh for you seriously.
Don’t you know that luxury drains the brain? If you enjoy the luxury of stable electricity, perfectly-flowing potable water, good library facilities, good and durable non-dusty roads, courteous porters, understanding and up-to-date lecturers, worthy Professors, ready and non-lackadaisical security apparatus, Standard medical facilities, world-class sport facilities, good infrastructures etc, you won’t pass well? All these luxury I have mentioned would only make your brain sluggish and dormant. Won’t you agree with me before SDC calls on you to answer for such a ‘gross misconduct’ in opinion.
So Mayowa Alaran (R.I.P) died due to the poor health facilities and archaic Medical practices, so students are being killed, robbed and raped off-campus due to insufficient and poor accommodation? So what? So you mean the Management has been unresponsive or selectively responsive about the current epileptic electricity issue? So they are still asking for Jaja card after your energetic protests and agitations? Are you still complaining about the incessant and unabating theft cases in your halls of residences and how ‘Abefele’ has been below average-functional level? Your wives in Awo Hall are living in a hell-on-earth? So SDC victimized you? OK…
Wait, let me ask you, is any of the UI ‘top-officers” children affected by these hazards and difficulties? So how do you expect them to feel your pain? Be reasonable my Sister.
Missus! You don’t still get my point? Okay, let me put it succinctly and precisely for you.
Education in government-owned Universities in Nigeria these days is all about making youths suffer like mental patients, but no one must say anything about it because there is no other option to be given. Or do you have a choice?
OK then, go to a private University and let your government-conditioned poor father pay his lifetime-savings as your first and only school fee.
Oh, you are an Orphan? Sorry. Just keep quiet and enjoy the charade to Hades.
As an advice, just keep quiet and graduate in peace, and not in pieces. Don’t complain, no protests, no agitations, no subversions, no civil-disobedience, no covert meetings, no more ostracism or criticism, no more tirades on the Students’ Union page (henceforth, (after this one)), etc…
Please if you would do all these, count me out. Leave and let me graduate in peace so I’ll be able to say boldly, “I am a Lawyer..L.L.B…. L.L.M…. PH.D….ABMAPHID!” (Abmaphid has been variously described as a wasting disease of the frontal lobes, and as a wonder drug. It is actually both. I’m really very mistrustful).
