Two Professors at the University of Ibadan— Prof. Kayode Adebowale, mni, FAS, Professor of Chemistry and Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration) and Prof Grace Olusola Gbotosho, FAS, of the Department of Pharmocology and Therapeutics, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences— have been elected by the Governing Council of the African Academy of Sciences (AAS) as Fellows of the African Academy of Sciences (FAAS).
This development is made known in a statement by the Vice Chancellor, Prof Idowu Olayinka, on Tuesday August 11th.
UCJ UI understands that the Fellowship of the African Academy of Sciences is conferred on distinguished personalities who have made significant contributions to the development of science, technology and innovation in Africa.
With this award conferred on them, Professors Adebowale and Gbotosho would use the designatory letters, “FAAS,” after their names.
In his congratulatory remarks, the VC said: “I am sure you will like to join me in congratulating our two colleagues for once again distinguishing themselves through this honour and distinction. We have always been exceedingly proud of them.”
