Boys Without Borders Nigeria had the second edition of her annual Ibadan Boys Conference today, Saturday, May 17, at the First Bank Building, Faculty of Agriculture.
The event was themed “Charting a New Course: Inspiring Minds and Transforming Futures.”
It featured four speaker including the co founders of Boys Without Borders, John Dare Okafor and Solomon Idowu.
Other speakers includes Emmanuel Tope, covener, Men’s Talk Summit, Ibrahim Oredola, co founder Skill NG and Dr. Olusola Saheed Ayoola, CEO, Robotics and Artificial Intelligence, Nigeria (RAIN)
The speakers spoke on a variety of topics, each targeted at enlightening the boy children present at the event and inspiring potential in them.
The Richard Ogunjimi oratory contest was held next and here the students from the invited school spoke on the topic “The role of mentorship in guiding and misleading young boys”.
Afterwards , the announcement for the winners of the Chidera Anushiem Undergraduate Essay Competition were announced.
Israel Bolarinwa, a 200 level student of the faculty of Education, University of Ibadan emerged first in this competition.
Other winners were Ugwu Daniel, from the University of Nigeria and Oladeji Joshua, from the University of Lagos, who emerged second and third respectively.
Following this, the announcement of the winners of the Richard Ogunjimi oratory contest was made and schools were ranked from the ninth to the first.
The first position for the oratory competitions for the secondary school was Methodist Grammar School, Bodija. Community Grammar School placed second, while Abadina College, UI ended up in third place.
The oratory competition was judged by the Literary and Debating Society of the University of Ibadan and the chief judge, Muiz Opeyemi gave his break down of the competition.
He corrected some errors and encouraged each students to perform better in other oratory competitions.
The event also marked the fifth year anniversary of the Boys Without Borders Organization.
