A LIFE IN MOTION

This is not a coincidence.
I and the entire committee of friends of this prestigious institution, welcome all our newly and freshly admitted students to “the first and best” premier university – The University of Ibadan.
Intriguingly, this is an important topic I would love to know how you handle your life in motion, as our lives never cease to revolve in an orbit. Although gradual as the case may be some, regrettably, don’t revolve at the right pace or the right direction, no one can tell, only you can.
Motion, in its context, is a matter of responsiveness and reactions. “There is a natural tendency of objects to keep on doing what they are doing, unless an unbalanced force acts on it” by Isaac Newton. The life in motion is a struggle for the survival of the fittest at best case scenario, since life itself is a matter of competition from conception.
We worked hard to achieve the best of our dreams and yet it seemingly looks unaccomplished. Of course, there are better ways of defining this. As they often say, several paths lead to the top of the mountain but the view is the same. Achieving our dreams is not a one-way traffic. But, granted an admission, is not the end of the struggle, it continues – yes it does!
A great opportunity, I must say, to be enlisted amongst hundreds of the greatest Uites. Unarguably, thousands of applications roll in every year for admission, while a few would be chosen out of the multiple applicants. Irrespective of the course you were offered, Sciences, Law, Social sciences, Basic medical courses, Arts, Pharmacy, Education, Technology etc. you’ve joined the league of great elite.
Purportedly, there are many organizations on campus, the JCI, UCJ, BNI, NigMUNSA, Sigma, ANUNSA, AiEsiec, press organizations, LDS and many more, that would influence your interest.
This citadel, as many others, creates a paradigm shift in your life and makes you decide the heights you wish to attain. Undoubtedly, this university is an impregnable wall of sound education with fine character. There is more to learn everyday but, on the long run, many get distracted and confused. Do not worry too much, it’s the norms here but there are few things you must consider.
Expect the worse.
There are proven reasons why you should see things differently here because the mentality we hold have a long way in deciding how you’ll survive this ambience.
A paper flying in the air is due to luck, but the kite flying in the air is due to effort, so don’t worry if luck doesn’t support you, effort will always do.
The journey through this experience isn’t that easy I bet you. Continuous reading and studying would be advisable and asking of more questions, late night reading helps a lot, but is not my thing. There are enough reading spots on campus, you would discover soon.
The principal focus should center on achieving a result at the best of your capacity.
“Stress” is a regular saying here and therefore it can only be managed at your own prerogative.
Simplifying the situation of stress, as the case may be, and needless distractions, detract from unnecessary engagements at this preliminary stage as a fresher, be it aimless discussions or gist. It reduces your capacity to think and make wise decisions.
Schedule your plans properly – classes, break, rest, reading and studying, group discussions, religious knit, relationship(s), sports and many more activities. Sometimes I think we need to praise dead phones, it reduces the brain stress, while many of us are phone addict, it however savages the chances of solitude.
The rigorous first sessions would seem so challenging but you must understand that “some will pass, while some won’t” inequality is the balance of life.
Therefore at every stage of our life, there is a complex web of structure that must keep up with life circumstances. A life in motion is a life that never ceases to see opportunities in problem; a life that clearly maps out a chart even when things won’t seemingly work out.
One must come to the realization of the fact that the human life must continue in motion, whether crawling, creeping, screeching, or walking, no matter how slow just keep moving. Only a dead life would have no course to be reactive and responsive. As there are indications that we need to gravitate beyond the normal irrespective of your academic pursuit.
Keep your life in motion.
Once again, I welcome you all to the prestigious University of Ibadan.

Enjoy…
