Once again, the gracious gate of the premier varsity has been opened to allow fresh students after pouring graduates who are worthy in character and in learning that can sustain its value in the town.
It is indeed humane to rejoice for being among the few chosen to experience the golden opportunities the fountain of knowledge have been offering over the years but truth be told, it is not time to feel on top of the world; rather re strategize, sit up, outline and decide on how to achieve being a complete man and not an half-baked one.
You have crushed so many eggs in other to hatch your admission; you have deprived a lot of people because you outran them in this race; it is necessary to hit the nail on the head that your primary work in this great citadel is your academic work, this should come at the top of your opportunity cost list at all times. Thousands of stumps are out there to pull down ranging from laziness, arrogance, bad company and missing classes; it is now left for you to make sure academic voyage becomes a successful one.
Stress and needless distractions at this preliminary stage as a fresher does not worth it; it reduces your capacity to think and make wise decisions. Schedule your plans properly – classes, break, rest, reading and studying, group discussions, religious knit, relationship(s), sports and many more activities.
Now that you a “Universal Student” which must be proved to the town at the end of your gown brooding – all the ingredients needed for this kind of student cannot be gotten from the classroom rather associate yourself with clubs and societies on campus that can add value to you and shape your life: Junior Chambers International, JCI; Union of Campus Journalists, UCJ; Students In Free Enterprise SIFE; African Liberty Students Organisation, ALSO; Students Farm Research Foundation, SFRF and many more…
It would be a great opportunity to let you know that you are admitted for two courses; one is that written on your admission letter while the other is TIME MANAGEMENT. It has to be reiterated that whatever extra-curricular duties you are combining with your academics, be conscious of your time. Being a time manager is part of the characteristics of being an outstanding student.
You can’t be complete student without doing some activities outside your classroom and you can’t be an outstanding without effective management of your time; you might be weak with time management, just do what you ought to do without procrastination and you’ll rule your time. If you rule your time you will rule your world.
Inasmuch you want avoid joining the cult groups you should not hide under the umbrella of being religious, it is not the way forward and you can spend every minute of your life worshipping God with your acts and not by spending endless time at worship centres or fellowships.
To achieve progress, we ought to have an undiluted relationship and see everyone that crosses your path as a brother you can help or get help from.
Finally, a life in motion is a life that never ceases to see opportunities in problem; a life that clearly maps out a chart even when things won’t seemingly work out.
