When two individuals (male and female) fall in love, there is always this spark between them and this seems to be the connection they both have. If this relationship eventually leads to a long-term one, real work has to be done. Deliberate efforts has to be taken by both parties involved to keep the love alive till deaths do them apart. The connection is like a bridge. To keep this bridge firm, there has to be constant communication and heart rub just so that the bridge doesn’t get destroyed. But what if the bridge gets destroyed? What if it is washed away by the flood of life? What if the bridge is never built again? Just what if!
This is the case of the bridge that links the Green faculty to the other parts of the school. This bridge has been doing us good since its inception as it has served the pedestrians well over the years. But what is the state of our dear bridge? It’s almost gone! Over time, the bridge has shown signs of destruction. This may be due to the stream that passes underneath it or maybe it wasn’t built on solid grounds. Recently, a part of our dear bridge was renovated and it made the bridge more accessible for use. The bridge has shown its weakness has it has reacted to the constant downpour over the past few weeks. It is no longer in good shape to be used by pedestrians and any heavy downpour could see to the total destruction the Green faculty’s part of the bridge.
This might not have been noticed by the faculty management but as usual to every love story, two parties are always involved. Amidst the very many issues the Executives of the faculty are dealing with, this is very important for them to bring to the notice of the appropriate quarters. According to Wikipedia, a bridge is a structure built to span physical obstacles without closing the way underneath such as a body of water, valley or road for the purpose of providing passage over the obstacle, usually something that can be detrimental or otherwise. The definition above suggests that both in the physical world and in the abstract world (love), the bridge is very important in the survival of both parties to reach a destination.
It is without doubt that any student of the Green faculty can walk up to the faculty management and air his views and opinion about the happenings in the faculty. But since some people have been elected to act as spokespersons on behalf of the students of the faculty, they are supposed to bridge the gap between the faculty management and the students. Unless the bridge in itself is faulty. The actual walkable bridge which saves pedestrians who access the main campus without having to go through the major road in a devastating state and no comment has been made as to address such issue. It will be assumed that the Executives have taken note of this but is waiting for the right time to address the issue. It could also be otherwise.
This again reminds me of another bridge that seems to be shaky in the faculty. Recently, the bridge linking the Executives and the Legislative Council seem to be on a sinking sand. We cannot for sure know who is making the bridge sink. All we know is that the bridge is sinking and if it eventually sinks, we wonder who will survive. Again, another bridge on the verge of destruction. Little wonder things seem to be happening later than we had expected them to happen. For instance, the NAAS week which awareness should have started a long time ago just started protruding its head out of the bag. Electioneering process too have not commenced. This and many more are signs of a shaky bridge in the faculty.
The focus of this article is to call the attention of the Executives to the dilapidated state of the bridge between the Faculty of Education and Agric. This bridge has been serving its purpose and if not acted upon as fast as possible can do more harm than all the goods it has done ever since its erection. If not properly and well handled, the story we will be saying will not be any different from the casualty reports we have always gotten from the various parts of the country in time of flood. From time immemorial, it has always been said “To be forewarned is to be forearmed”. This won’t be any different.
Like two lovers who have noticed a fault in the stance of the bridge, we hope the abstract bridge in the faculty is reinforced soonest to ensure a happy-ending. Not like the ones in the Cinderella fairytale but real life happy-ending. After the reinforcing of the bridge, it is now left for us all to walk those bridges in our lives and ensure it continues to serve the purpose for which it has been built. Redundancy destroys too!!!
