“Thinking big and starting small” should be the ideology behind every Nigerian youth. Though not discarding the government in its existence neither the “not too young to rule bill”, the youths need to demand accountability; thus graduates out there won’t rely solely on non-existent jobs, that is, thinking how to exist without government.
According to Forbes writings in recent times, the richest man in Africa and the 100th richest man in world, Mr. Aliko Dangote said “I can remember when I was in primary school, I would go and buy cartoons of sweets (candy) and I would start selling them just to make money. I was so interested in business even at that time”. Dangote then didn’t start off by producing his own candy neither did he own an apartment at Shoprite just to start off his business, but he did this because of his passion for business. For a person to be successful there has to be a drive, which is passion for something great.
The youths in Nigeria, to some extent are not helping, though some seems to be serious while others remained nonchalant and pleased with their wretched predicaments. The viral video captured TSOULE Tv, interviewing a middle age man about what he will do with the sum of N2 million Naira, to everyone’s bewilderment his response was that he will spend it on ‘suya’ and enjoy himself. This is to imply that some Nigerian youths out there see no hope in themselves not to say in government.
It is high time youth of Nigeria had come back to their sense in becoming self-made millionaires and billionaires because these old egotistic political leaders will promise much but have little to offer. Thinking big and starting small should be the motive.
The top entrepreneurs in Nigeria all started not from a large scale but from small scale growing into large scales, the likes of Uche Pedro (CEO of Bellanaija), Oluwaseun Temitope Osewa (Founder of Nairaland), Linda Ifeoma Ikeji (Founder Linda Ikeji Blog) and among many others. T.D Jakes said “it is your passion that empowers you to be able to do that thing you were created to do”, following one’s passion is to be prepared to work hard and sacrifice, and, above all, not allowing others to limit one’s dream.
