Prospective students seeking admission into the University of Ibadan (UI) for the 2026/2027 academic session can now begin registration for the institution’s Post-UTME and Direct Entry screening exercise, following the official release of the admission schedule by the University’s management.
According to the announcement signed by the Registrar, G. O. Saliu on the university’s admission portal, the admission portal opened on Monday, June 22, 2026, and will remain accessible until Sunday, July 19, 2026. Their University stressed that no extension will be granted, urging candidates to complete their registration within the stipulated timeframe to avoid being locked out of the exercise.
The screening process requires applicants to pay a total of ₦5,000, comprising a ₦2,000 screening fee and a ₦3,000 portal access fee, payable exclusively through the University’s admission portal. Candidates may make payments using debit or credit cards or through direct bank transfers. Successful applicants are expected to print and retain their payment receipts as evidence of registration.
Candidates are to log into the portal using their JAMB Registration Number as their username and their surname as the default password before proceeding with the registration.
The Computer-Based Test (CBT) screening exercise is scheduled to hold between Monday, July 27, and Wednesday, July 29, 2026. Individual examination dates will be communicated to candidates ahead of the exercise. Consequently, applicants have been advised to provide valid email addresses and active phone numbers, as these will serve as the primary channels for official communication.
The University emphasized that it will not be responsible for candidates who fail to receive updates due to invalid contact details.
Beyond the registration process, the institution reiterated several important admission requirements. Candidates must have attained the age of 16 years on or before September 30, 2026, to qualify for admission.
Applicants seeking admission into programmes under the College of Medicine and the Faculty of Pharmacy are required to possess five relevant O’Level credits obtained in one sitting. Candidates applying to other programmes who intend to combine two O’Level results must have at least six relevant credits.
In another significant clarification, the University reaffirmed that it does not accept IJMB or JUPEP qualifications for Direct Entry admission. Instead, only qualifications such as WAEC, NECO, Cambridge Advanced Level, NCE, OND, HND, and recognized Degree certificates will be considered.
Direct Entry applicants have also been directed to submit their academic credentials electronically via the University’s designated admissions email while ensuring strict compliance with all prescribed guidelines.
As one of Nigeria’s most competitive admission exercises, the University of Ibadan’s screening process attracts thousands of applicants annually. With a firm registration deadline already announced and no possibility of extension, prospective candidates are expected to complete all registration procedures promptly while carefully adhering to the University’s admission requirements.
The University’s management concluded by encouraging all applicants to familiarize themselves with the approved matriculating subjects, UTME subject combinations, and O’Level requirements relevant to their chosen courses before completing their applications.
