In a notification released by the Concerned Students Movement on Wednesday, 18th of February, 2026, the ongoing court case of Students Victimisation between the UI3 and the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, alongside the institution itself, has been scheduled for judgment on Tuesday, 31st of March, 2026 at exactly 10am by the Federal High Court, Ibadan.

The concerned students, Aduwo Ayodele, Mide Gbadegesin, and Nice Linus, filed a lawsuit against the university management over the judgment passed by the University Central Disciplinary Committee, headed by Professor Kayode Adebowale, the Vice-Chancellor.

The students filed a suit at the Federal High Court, seeking to set aside the suspension onthe grounds that the process leading to the decision violated their rights to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly.

Recall that on May 13, 2024, during the inauguration of the Aweda-led Students’ Union administration, the trio displayed placards with the inscription “#FEESMUSTFALL” in protest against the institution’s fee hike policy.

They were forcefully removed from the venue, assaulted and handed over to personnel of the Nigerian Army.

Following the incident, the university subjected them to disciplinary proceedings, which resulted in the suspension of two students for four semesters, effective July 2025.

However, a legal challenge was taken against the victimisation that followed the protest. “As the matter approaches its decisive hearing, we wish to call on all who believe in justice, academic freedom, and the right to peaceful expression to stand in solidarity. The final hearing is scheduled for March 31 at the Federal High Court”, the notification reads.
