Miss Nice Linus, via a letter dated 28th March, 2025, notified the Students Representative Council, University of Ibadan of the court order that reinstated her temporarily as a representative of the Obafemi Awolowo Hall of residence, pending a second hearing.

The Court Order, granted on 21st March, 2025, by Justice U. N. Agomoh, the presiding judge, was in response to an ex parte application moved by Miss Linus.

Recall that Miss Linus had been at the center of the controversy that pitched her against Deputy Registrar T. I. Musa who disqualified her from being sworn in along with Honourable Members of the 12th Assembly, citing her pending case with the SDC.

Further damage was brought about when Miss Linus along with members of the press were assaulted when she showed up at the inauguration.

Miss Linus stated that approaching the court was “the last step to take after all other means had been exhausted.” further explaining that the University had made no comments on the matter.

According to her, there is a possibility that members of the SRC are divided over the court order, with some maintaining that nothing should be done about the Order, and that they should wait on communication from the University management.

“From what I heard, they’re still still arguing about it. Some honourable member’s feel the SRC is not supposed to do anything about the Court order. Because the management is yet to make any communication to them. Another faction believes that the Court order is enough reason to recognize my reinstatement.” She told UCJ.

In her letter to the council, she issued an ultimatum asking that the Council follows the court order and recognise her reinstatement between today, 28th of March, 2025 and 12pm on Saturday, 29th of March 2025.

She also warned that failure to obey the court order would be regarded as Contempt of Court, threatening jail time for those found culpable.

She also demanded to be added back to the official group of the 12th Assembly, having been unfairly outsted at the start of this controversy.

“I hope that we clinch this win, for the student community, for precedence and justice.” Miss Linus stated.

The next hearing on this issue is scheduled for April 2, 2025.
