The Provost of the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, Professor Temidayo Ogundiran, while addressing protesters noted that the UCH and COMUI have been indebted to a tune of 500 million.
He explained that IBEDC has maintained that the light won’t be restored until the last kobo is paid. “IBEDC said until the last kobo is paid, light would not be restored,” further justifying the partial restoration.
“The solution that has been agreed upon that is that clinical areas would be restored first. The light that comes to the UCH comes through the SON. This is a wiring issue that predates all of us. I wish I could put a timeline to when light would be restored.
“You have registered your disaffection, it is now time for you to go back to your hostel. It’s time to sheath the sword,” he concluded.
However, students have showed displeasure with the resolution of the management as protest continues relentlessly. Protesters have affirmed that they won’t disperse until power is restored in Halls of Residence. As of this report, students leaders are seen gathered having conversations about the way forward.
