FEE HIKE: SERAP Issues UI 48-hour Ultimatum To Reverse ‘Plan To Expel Three Students’

The Socio-Economic Rights & Accountability Project (SERAP) has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the management of the University of Ibadan to end the trial of three fee hike protesters.

The nonprofit in a Tweet that has now generated 12,000 views as of press time, advised the management to end the trial of these students or be charged to court.

“The University of Ibadan must end the misuse of its authority to silence dissent on campus and drop its unlawful plan to expel three students for reportedly protesting against huge increase in fees. We’ll see in court if the University fails to do this within 48 hours,” the statement read.

The three students facing the school’s disciplinary committee are Aduwo Ayodele, a 300-level student in the History Department; Olamide Gbadegesin, a 700-level student at the Institute of African Studies; and Nice Linus, a 300-level student in the Faculty of Law.
