APC TO AMEND CONSTITUTION

By: TAIWO, Damilola

The All Progressive Congress has scheduled Wednesday, 29 October, 2014 for an important national convention to amend the constitution of the party for proper functioning.

According to The Nation, Alhaji Lai Muhammad, the publicity secretary of the party made this known to newsmen after the national executive council meeting held in Abuja on Friday, 17 October, 2014. He said the meeting will also straighten-up the modalities for the presidential aspirant.

He said: “Principally, we proposed certain amendments to the constitution of the party that will allow the party to function much more efficiently. The modalities for the primaries is part of the reason why we need to amend our constitution because the Electoral Act 2010 as amended says that one can conduct a primary.

“But if you are going to do that, then one must be explicit on how you are going to conduct it, and that is why we need to amend our constitution.”
