#Glasgow2014: Chika Amalaha Stripped Of Gold Medal
The 16 year-old faced a disciplinary panel on Friday after testing positive in sample A and Sample B, therefore, she has been stripped of the medal she won in the Women 53kg weight category.
A statement from the panel read in part: “The Commonwealth Games Federation has determined that Nigerian weightlifter, Chika Amalaha, has committed an anti-doping rule violation and has fully suspended her from the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
“As a result, Amalaha has been disqualified from her event at the Games, with her result in the competition nullified.”
Papua New Guinea’sDika Toua is now awarded the Gold medal, having finished second behind Amalaha.
Along with the strip, her #Glasgow2014Commonwealth Gamesrecord as the youngest Gold medalist, with a weight pull of 196kg is nullified.
Usain Bolt hints at retirement
Usain Bolt has hinted that he may retire after the conclusion of the Rio Olympic Games in 2016.
The Jamaican sprinter, who claimed gold in the Men’s relay on Saturday evening, stated that he may call time on his decorated career after the Brazilian Games.
The Telegraph quotes him as saying: “I spoke to Michael Johnson, who said he retired because there was nothing else left to accomplish.
“I’m happy to have achieved everything that I have, but when you don’t have anything left then you might as well retire. “I would leave the sport to all the young kids coming through, because I hate losing.”
Xavi ‘back to his best’ – Luis Enrique
Signings Jeremy Mathieu, Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Ivan Rakitic earned starts for Luis Enrique’s men, however it was the veteran Barca midfielder Xavi who came on in the second half to save the day.
Xavi converted a penalty to help Barca avoid defeat in France, and Luis Enrique hailed the 133-time Spain international – who has been linked with a move away from the club he has spent his entire career at.
“Right now he’s back to his best both in terms of fitness and motivation … I hope that all the players with me now are still here at the end of the season,” the coach said.
Luis Enrique was unflustered by the result, which saw Barca fight back from conceding a first-half penalty, claiming they improved vastly in the second 45 minutes.
Suarez Biting Ban Appeal Slated for August 8
The Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas) has agreed to fast-track hearing on Luis Suarez’s four-month biting ban.
Cas have fixed Friday, August 8 for the hearing of an appeal against a four-month ban handed the new Barcelona striker for biting at the World Cup.
The Uruguay international forward was served the aforementioned punishment by the world football governing body, Fifa, for biting Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini during a group stage match at the soccer showpiece.
Fifa had rejected an initial appeal by the Uruguayan FA against the 27-year-old’s suspension.
Suarez is not expected to make an appearance in any “football-related activities”- including training with his new club or enter the confines of a stadium until the end of October, as clearly spelt out in the terms of the suspension.
Suarez is also banned from nine international fixtures, and was fined to the tune of 100,000 Swiss francs (£66,000).
Lampard to Continue In the EPL with Man City on Loan
After having signed for MLS side New York City which is co-owned by Manchester City and American Baseball club, New York Yankees, the Chelsea veteran lok set for another season in the premiership, since the new yoork club can only begin play until March 2015.
36 year-old Lampard could join them early next week at the Carrington training ground; however, the club is yet to confirm his arrival.
Manchester City plan to register the player for the Premiership and Champions League season, though the loan deal is expected to last till mid January next year.

Emirates Cup: Sanogo scores four as Arsenal annihilates Benfica
Arsenal got their Emirates cup campaign to a flying start by scoring five goals against a destitute Benfica side.
The Gunners drew first blood with Yaya Sanogo scoring a fantastic goal. Soon afterwards, on loan returnee Joel Campbell spanked his name on the score sheet to make it 2-0 inside the first 40 minutes of the first half.
Sanogo completed the rout scoring 3 goals later. Benfica had a consolation goal with Nicolas Gaitan finish in the 62 minute.
Glasgow 2014: Nigeria’s Onyema & Obiji Win Powerlifting Gold, Set New World Records
Esther Onyema and Loveline Obiji completed a Commonwealth Games double for Team Nigeria in the women’s para-sport event on Day 10, clinching two powerlifting gold medals.
Both paralympians, named Member of the Order of the Niger (MON) by President Goodluck Jonathan in 2012, broke the world records in their respective categories to increase the country’s gold medal haul to 9 at the Clyde Auditorium on Saturday morning.
Obiji, 23, set a new women’s heavyweight powerlifting world record with a best lift of 144.0kg in her third attempt to amass a total of 122.4 points and win gold.
32-year-old Onyema, whose disability is as a result of polio and weighed in at 48kg/105lbs, scored a total of 136.0 points to break the previous lightweight powerlifting world record (women’s -55kg category). She lifted 120kg, 125kg and 126kg in her first, second and third efforts respectively to claim gold.
BOLT STEALS GLASGOW SHOW
Sprint superstar Usain Bolt anchored the Jamaican team to victory in the Commonwealth Games men’s 4x100m relay on Saturday as England topped the medals table for the first time in 28 years.
In a fitting end to the track and field program at Hampden Park, Jason Livermore, 100m gold medalist Kemar Bailey-Cole and bronze medalist Nickel Ashmeade all safely negotiated their legs before the baton was passed on to the towering figure of Bolt.
The 27-year-old, who has won six Olympic gold medals and eight world titles but was making his Commonwealth Games debut, made no mistake with his anchor run in light drizzle on a soaked track, charging through the line in a Games record of 37.58 seconds.
