On Friday, 19th of June 2026, the FATSSSA House of Representatives (FHR) and the FATSSSA executive council both released memos to the general FATSSSA populace, addressing the issue of the impeachment of the President, in person of Peter Adegoke and the suspension of four other members of the Executive Council, as follows; the Vice President – Triumph Israel, the Financial Secretary – Matthew Itodo, the Social Director – Adeoye Fifehanmi and the Sports Director – Obinna Kingsley.

Legislative Memo

The House communicated that upon due consultations and internal deliberations, the decision to restore all affected members of the Executive council was adopted therefore nullifying all previous directives, hence concluding with a preserved status quo.

It further stated that this decision was taken in the spirit of unity, reconciliation, progress and the collective interests of FATSSSAites, with the aim of allowing both arms of the Association resume on a fresh slate, working together in peace and productivity.

A call was then made to members of the Executive Council and the FHR as well as Stakeholders of the Faculty to put aside all grievances, working collectively to gear the Association towards growth, stability and productivity

Executive Memo

Additionally, the Executive Council, in its memo, extended its appreciation to FATSSites for their patience, understanding and commitment throughout the recent events that have tested the unity, peace and stability of the Association. It stated how an agreement of understanding has been established between both arms, where it communicated that based on this, the FHR would release an official memorandum retracting its previous declaratives on the Executive Council, of which the House did in the early hours of that day. The Executive Council reiterated its stance on its unwavering commitment to the welfare, progress and best interests of FATSSA.

It further asserted that among all organs in the Faculty, the principles of mutual respect, cooperation and understanding would be established to enhance the effective functioning of the Association, highlighting that neither of them can successfully achieve their constitutional responsibilities without constructive engagement and respect for the roles of others.

Profound appreciation was extended to the faculty management for their interventions, guidance and commitment as well as to the UI’SRC External Committee Affairs and the leadership of Rt. Hon John Oludele, the SRC speaker, whose members played commendable roles as mediators throughout the reconciliation process. The Executive Council also commended the FHR for embracing dialogue and demonstrating a willingness to give significance to the unity, stability and collective interests of FATSSSA above all other considerations. It stated that in due time, a Congress would be summoned to address the state of the union and discuss other areas of businesses concerning the Association.

This comes on the background of an earlier Executive-Legislative squabble in the faculty which saw the Faculty Legislative council suspend the President and 4 other executive members while the Executive council kicked back saying that the President still remains in office.
