Emeka: leadership is a form or system whereby is person a charged with the responsibility of putting things right and finding solutions to whatever problem that might arise.
Respo: Why President? Why are you running for Afas presidency when there are other posts available and equally important?
Emeka: The president is the pilot of the team and without the head, the body is incomplete and since I want to achieve a better Afas with positivity, I believe that being the Afas president will give me that opportunity without being limited to just one aspect.
Respo: Faculty of Arts is a very large Faculty , spanning over 10 departments , how do you intend to effectively represent Afasites well.
Emeka: as it is well known in faculty of arts, the executive is just an arm of the governing body, there is the faculty legislative council, which comprise of three members of each department , there is also the council of presidents and secretaries which consist of departmental presidents and general secretaries. If elected as president , the work wouldn’t be on me alone, I would be working hand In hand with the FLC and CPS and even class reps, to ensure that faculty of arts students association is one of the best faculties in University of Ibadan.
Respo: What experience do you have in leadership posts held before and what achievements can you point to that can be attributed to you and how do think that experience can help you manage your intending post.
Emeka: by the grace of God , if elected as the president of Afas , then it would be my fourth post held in university of Ibadan, asides the committees which I have either headed or been a member of. I served as a co-opted member of the faculty of arts legislative council and I was the chairman of the welfare committee then. With the help of my committee members then, we were able to stop the payment of money for transcript in linguistics department because it has already been paid for in the school fees. We also celebrated honourables during their birthdays and we visited Afasites that were in jaja every Friday.
I am also the current social director of my department pending my resignation which will be soon. I have been able to organize tutorials for Nassorites and as part of the departmental week, Nassors On Air will be a part of it so as clear misconceptions concerning religious studies students.
