Mr Kolade Olupademi, a father of one of the graduands is one of such parents and he expressed his disapproval at the way the preparation for the ceremony was handled. He stated, “Quite a number of us (parents) were grumbling all through the session because we could hardly see anything going on down there.”
Besides the inability to view the event, Mr. Kolade emphasized on how he alongside other parents at the Gallery were unable to make out what was being said by some of the dignitaries, including the Keynote speaker. “At some point, we were straining our ears to hear what was being said. Besides the speech of the Vice Chancellor which we heard clearly and explicitly, we had to strain our ears when others spoke.
He further noted that the absence of a screen which could have allowed individuals seated at the gallery to have a view of the ongoing ceremony was rather appalling. He stated, “What is rather more disturbing was the fact we thought is a big screen was placed in the hall, many people will be able to view what is happening downstairs and there would be no need to feel agitated. As a matter of fact, quite a number of us are not satisfied.” He also expressed his hope in having the issue resolved soon enough. “Still, I believe the University of Ibadan can make an improvement on that.”
