ARTS, TEDDER VICTORIOUS AS JAW WAR COMES TO AN END
The annual debate competition Jaw Wars came to an end last week Wednesday amidst fierce intellectual and oratory battles. The first category featured the Faculties of Arts and Technology with the latter emerging victorious with the topic discussing the right approach to tackling corruption in Nigeria. The second category pitched the male halls of Ahmadu Bello and Tedder against each other. The well-suited Tedder Hall team, for which the Vice Chancellor had earlier openly declared his support, ended up carting home the prize. There was also a lot of individual accolades to go round. Students from the Faculty of Law dominated the nominations despite crashing out in the semi-finals. Among the lucky winners were Alufa Temijuopelo James and Onele Peter Cole.

Also during the event was a personality lecture given by the governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi represented by his deputy Chief Moses Alake Adeyemo. The lecture, which focused on the theme of student unionism seemed to become an unsung lullaby as nearly half of the audience was entombed in sleep.

ASUN NIGHT TURNS DISAPPOINTING
The recent ASUN Night which had been overtly hyped proved to be lacklustre, at least according to ten people who all pleaded anonymity.
The early hours of the event featured a random group of people dancing in a small circle while others were forced to watch them. When the ‘asun’ itself was to be distributed, it was not particularly in the most organised way as meat was seen being thrown from the balcony of Tedder Hall and Uites so comically rushed to catch it like beggars. In the words of a. Mellambite Ifeoluwa Shaibu, one does hope it turns out better next year.
