UCJUI@30: WHY IT IS WORTH CELEBRATING

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.” – Margaret Mead

After 30 years, she can look back and say yes! These set of people passed through me and they are impacting the world from their various sectors; yet the legacy is still on and strong.

Celebrating the 30 years of existence of the Union of Campus Journalists, University of Ibadan is not just about counting the number of age of which she has existed, but about reminiscing the impact she had made in the past, focusing on her current challenges, showcasing her successes and putting new plans in motion that will make it live for another 30 years and more.

When you see the likes of Bayo Ajala, the first UCJUI president, currently one of the directors at the Nigeria Institute of Social Economic Research (NISER); Laolu Akande, 2nd UCJUI President, currently the Media Aide to the Acting President; Sheriff Folarin, former UCJUI president associate professor at Covenant University; Dhikrullah Mobolaji Ajani, 1999/2000 UCJUI president and the *pioneer NUCJ* President, currently the chief of the people, Porthacourt Electricity Distribution company; Godwin Amaize (Mr Fix Nigeria),  18th Editor-in-chief and 19th UCJUI President;

Before you say that’s the glory of the past, always remember the legacy is still being maintained as we can still see the likes of Kunle Adebajo, Convener, TEDXUI; Kanyonsola Oyinkansola, a budding writer; Haleem Olatinji, immediate past (29th) editor-in-chief UCJUI,  news reporter for the page newspaper; Alao Abiodun, an unrelenting, on-time reporter, great publicist; Austine Elegbede, the 30th general secretary;  Ogeroju Rabiat, 30th Public relations officer 2 and Samuel Arowosafe, 30th president,  UCJUI. These people are impacting their immediate community.

On behalf of the myself and the attendees, we appreciate the 30th Administration for putting up something this fabulous for us. The organising and publicity committee  must be really appreciated for their effort.

On behalf of myself and the 30th administration, I really want to appreciate everyone who came, witnessed and shared the ‘one in a lifetime’ experience of celebrating the 30years of outstanding champions in the fight of freedom to ensure a society where equal chances and social justice prevail.
