Earlier today, the UCJ published a part of a presidential interview series with Mr. Tolulope Salami, a 400L Law student and candidate for the position of the President of the Students’ Union. However, the interviewee has objected to a particular sentence attributed to him, and here is our response.
In the course of the interview, the interviewer asked Mr. Salami a question as regards the endorsement of his candidacy by his faculty, and Mr. Salami elaborated the series of events and his stance on this candidacy/endorsement. In his response, and in his exact words, he said, “It was a Jaw War Day. I was L&D President, I had to be there. I was busy running around. Also about 5 of my classmates that were stakeholders were not there.” as opposed to the initial transcription of “It was a Jaw War day, and I wasn’t present, and so were about 5 of my classmates who were stakeholders.”
This was an oversight on the part of the transcriber of the interview as he misplaced Mr. Salami’s words. Hence, we take full responsibility for the misrepresentation of the candidate.
The published interview, which can be read in the link below, has now been updated.
