UI Student Leaders Win CivicHive’s Justice Hackathon

A team of four students of the University of Ibadan has emerged winner of the regional finals of the CivicHive’s Student Union Leadership Fellowship Justice Hackathon.

The team of UItes, named Team Ba Wahala, consisting of the Students’ Union President, Samson Tobiloba ‘Host’, the Vice-president, Nafisat Ogunsesan, Faculty of Education’s President, Sakariyau Waris Ajibola and the immediate past Majority leader of Obafemi Awolowo Hall, IyanuOluwa Komolafe, was declared winner at the South West regional session after competing with other schools including, Obafemi Awolowo University, Federal University of Technology, Akure, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta and Federal University, Oye Ekiti.

The winning team will also be awarded a sum of €1,000 to develop their idea by the Hague Institute for innovation of Law, West Africa.

In a conversation with UCJUI, Iyanuoluwa described the win as a testament to the team’s dedication to combating land disputes and simplifying land purchases.

“Winning the justice hackathon organized by HiiL in partnership with Civichive has left me brimming with excitement and happiness. The €1000 prize to develop our idea, Ba Wahala, is a testament to our dedication in combating land disputes and simplifying land purchases,”

“This fellowship has invigorated my leadership skills, and I’m eager to channel my newfound knowledge into real-world impact. From the outset, I was quite confident in our victory, and working alongside such exceptional team members has been a true privilege. A heartfelt thank you to Civichive for this incredible initiative that’s propelling us towards a brighter future,” she said.
