In a bid to curb the spread of COVID-19, the management of the University of Ibadan has ordered the closure of all bars, eat-in places restaurants on campus for an initial period of five weeks, among other guidelines it issued.
This is coming days after a patient tested positive for the virus at the University’s clinic.
The University in a statement made available to the public on Wednesday also banned religious events of more than fifty percent during which strict COVID-19 guidelines should be enforced.
It added that events of more than fifty persons should held outside the university
The University further said campus transportation should not carry more fifty perecent of their capacity, adding that the use of facemarks is mandatory on campus.
It also advised persons aged 60 years or above to stay at home and avoid crowds.
The statement further read: “Leadership of offices should take responsibility for adequate ventilation, working from home, and adherence to other recommended precautions etc;
“Virtual meetings should be adopted/encouraged in offices as much as possible;
“CONTISS 12 officers and below are expected to work from home; and
“Persons having symptoms of COVID-19 including fever, cough, breathlessness should call
any of these numbers: 08095394000, 08078288800.”
The University said it, along with the Federal Government’ task force, may apply sanctions if any of these guidelines are not adhered by members of the community and entrants to the campus.
