The Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Ibadan has said it plans to build the first solar powered car.
This was made known by the Student Project Manager, Mr. Morenikeji Erioluwa, during his presentation at the Third NIMechE Conference, which held at the Trenchard hall on March 4, 2020.
According to him, the major intention behind this plan was to participate at the Annual Bridgestone World Solar Challenge in Australia, a biennial event which objective is to “foster the development and experimental of solar powered vehicles.”
Although, he pointed out to the challenges being faced, such as financial, logistics, amongst others, but he remains optimistic to get this project done within five months and participate at the Challenge Australia and fly high the flag of the University.
