The Ibadan Peace Club of Nigeria hosted its BetterMe Forum Program on the 12th of September, 2025 at the First Bank Auditorium, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ibadan.
The theme for the programme was “Peace is Personal. Becoming Better in Broken System” and it featured so many speakers from the Peace Sector of Nigeria.
The President, Ibadan Peace Club of Nigeria, Mr Femi Adeyemi gave the welcome speech. In his speech he bagan by saying ” A lot of people think about changing the world, but not changing themselves” laying the importance of a person in the factor of change.
Dr Temitope Abiodun, who represented the HOD for the Department of Peace, Security and Humanitarian Studies, Dr Isola, gave a goodwill address. He enjoined the participants to study hard, and not give up despite the broken system that Africa and Nigeria is currently operating in, creating inspirations for future generations, build networks and be a source of good in their own network.
The keynote speaker, Olutomiwa Binuyo, delivered a lecture on the topic “A Better Model.” He encouraged students and corps members in attendance to believe in themselves, put in effort towards their goals, and remain steadfast without discouragement.
The programme also featured a performance by Ashu Kathy, Vice President of the Department of Communication and Language Arts, who presented Alicia Keys’ “We Are Here.”
A panel session followed, with speakers Adeoye Aderogba, Taiwo Odusote who is the current President of JCI UI and Janet Moyosoreoluwa, former Chairperson of Queen Idia Hall. The panelists discussed themes relating to leadership, youth development, and building sustainable models for progress, while also sharing their experiences with the participants.
The event was organized in collaboration with the World Peace Initiative,Thailand, Chicken Republic, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), and other partners.
