UI’SU Press Night ’26: Olaniyan Proposes Partnerships with Infinix, itel Energy, Cartel for Skills Acquisition

Olaniyan Abdulsamad, an aspirant for Assistant General Secretary (AGS) of the University of Ibadan Students’ Union (UI’SU), has proposed a youth skills acquisition programme aimed at introducing students to practical skills, emerging opportunities and career pathways.

Speaking during the UI’SU Press Night held at Trenchard Hall on Wednesday, October 28, Olaniyan identified Infinix, itel Energy, and Cartel as brands he plans to invite or partner with to support the proposed initiative.

The programme, as outlined in his manifesto, is intended to expose students to practical skills and opportunities that could help them explore career paths beyond their academic programmes.

However, the proposed partnerships remain part of his campaign plans; no confirmation was provided that the named brands have agreed to participate.

This report is part of the Union of Campus Journalists, University of Ibadan (UCJ UI)’s Election Watchroom Initiative, which provides coverage of candidates and the electoral process of the University of Ibadan Students’ Union (UI’SU).
