The Students Union, University of Ibadan, has declared war against malaria.

The union, in implementing its intolerance for malaria, has procured 1000 mosquito nets from the Oyo state ministry of health for the students of the institution.

This was revealed to UCJUI by the president of the union, Adeyinka Adewole. He said the initiative to get the nets had been taken since January 2022 in a bid to curb the spread of malaria among students.

According to Adeyinka, “It is part of our blueprint to declare war on malaria, in order to reduce the workload on Jaja Clinic as we have been getting reports of our students frequenting the clinic as a result of malaria.

“The reports prompted the union to write the commissioner for health through the office of the Special Assistant to the State Governor on Student affairs, Victor Olojede and we got a call yesterday that the nets were available.”

Finally, the student leader expressed gratitude to the Special Assistant to the state governor on students affairs, Commission of Health, Director of Public Health and the Dean of Students for their roles in ensuring the nets were procured.
