UI MATRICULATES STUDENTS; DR SID ADMONISH STUDENTS

University of Ibadan Management has matriculated the newly admitted students after 4 weeks of resumption.
The third matriculation ceremony which was held at the international conference centre came with another memory for the students as Dr Sid the dentist turned musician was the one who delivered the matriculation lecture.
He however advised the students not to only concentrate on their studies but also to look out for whatever we distinguish and add values to them both on campus and beyond.

MELLANBY, TEDDER BOO CDO ACCEPT SOPE

On 25 April, residents of Tedder and Mellanby hall booed Miss Chibuzor, a vice-presidential candidate of the Students’ Union popularly known by her campaign name CDO while they accept her opponent known as sope with large heart.
Many non-residents were shocked with this attitude but UCJ learnt that Team sope was the candidate endorsed by the halls and they won’t allow any other body to campaign in their arena.
In a similar vein, Queen Idia hall had a two-day congress to choose one of the candidates they would support for the election.
According to UCJ correspondent who was at the venue of the congress reported that Team Sope was favoured after pulling to a poll.
ARTS HOLDS VALEDICTORY SERVICE

The premier faculty in the University of Ibadan held a valedictory service for her graduating students on Wednesday, 22nd April 2015 at Trenchard hall.

The faculty produced fourteen (14) first class graduates and also a number of second class upper graduates. A plaque was given to all first class students present in recognition of their academic excellence and taking the faculty to a greater height.
The second class upper graduates were also appreciated with a present. Also, all graduands were given a certificate of excellence.
The event came to an end with a raffle draw in which a student of Communication and Language Arts, Adeoye Adejare, casting away most of the gifts and a graduate taking away a refrigerator which is the grand prize.

THEATRE ARTS WELCOME FRESHMEN

The theatre arts department of the University of Ibadan on the 23rd of April, 2015, organised a special welcome groove for her freshmen.

The programme began with little enthusiasm. However, as the freshmen returned from the International Conference Centre venue for their matriculation ceremony, the programme kicked into full swing.
Both the old and new students were not shy to show off their various dance moves as the groove was just dance, dance and more dance.
The programme drew attention from everyone around the department as the music could be heard blocks away.

UIMSA WEEK FEATURES ORATORY CONTEST
University of Ibadan Medical Student Association held an oratotory competition on Wednesday, 23rd April, 2015, the competition, tagged Cecero and with the theme “WOMEN; GOVERNMENT IN THEIR HANDS, CHILDREN IN THEIR HEARTS, was part of the 55th Annual Health Week of the association.
The competition held at the Paul Hendricks Hall, University College Hospital, Ibadan.
Contestants at the competition were nine in number and all nine were medical students.
Akinlade Akinkunmi came third with 188 points; Makinde Anuoluwapo came second with 197 points, while Omotosho Emmanuel emerged as the overall winner with 205 points.
