To commemorate this year’s World Clean Up day, Recycledge, in partnership with other organizations held a clean up exercise in the University of Ibadan on Saturday.
The exercise, which started very early in the day, kicked off from the University main gate.
Turning up for the exercise, over one hundred volunteers, who were provided with masks and gloves, gathered to clear dirt in various parts of the University environment.
The World Clean up day is an annual event organized to improve the sensitization of the general public on environmental cleanliness and combat the improper management of solid wastes.
UCJ UI gathered that the aim of the UI Mega clean up was to gather 2000kg of recyclable wastes in the University of Ibadan as part of efforts to ensure a sustainable environment.
In addition to the cleaning exercise, volunteers were orientated on recycling and waste management.
The event, which had some side attractions like fitness and games, was supported by other organizations like Plogging, YALI Nigeria and Recycling Alliance.
