“ON MOTE, WE STILL HAVE OUR LAST CARD TO PLAY” – Students’ Union

By Austine Elegbede

In a recent interview with UCJUI, the Students’ Union President of the University of Ibadan, Mr. Olateju  Aliyu Oladimeji has assured students of the university that the issue of Mote’s reinstatement as well as students’ welfare was not lost yet but that the Union still have a last game to play with the management.

This he said to allay the fears of some students who thought the struggle for Mote’s reinstatement was lost forever to the University Management.

According to him “When you go to war, you always want to win. I have studied the outcomes of the various SDC cases of students overtime and that would form the basis of the last card we would play with the management.’’

He was therefore of the assurance that contrary to rumours that the Union had lost the war when the management recalled the students to campus, the Union could still win  as they still have a game plan to make management succumb to their demands in the last minute.

It could be recalled that the management of University of Ibadan had sent students home on April 26, 2016 after protesting over inadequate distribution of water and power supply and the unjust punishment of Mr. Tunji Ekpeti for leading a protest.
