NEWS: Wọlé Soyinka’s legacy honoured in two-day documentary screening at UI

The Thursday Film Series (TFS) Club, University of Ibadan, in collaboration with the University Media Centre and IFRA-Nigeria, concluded the Tributary Screening of Ebrohime Road, organized to celebrate Nobel Prize Winner Wole Soyinka’s 90th birthday.

This two-day special screening was a documentary that centers on Wole Soyinka’s Campus Home on Ebrohimie Road, written and produced by Nigerian writer Kola Tubosun.

The Ebrohimie Road was a central character in the story of his life. It was where he returned to from jail and from where he went into exile in 1971. The documentary also examines how this small campus residence became witness to significant issues many of which remain unresolved.

Prominent attendees for this final-day screening include Prof. Femi Osofisan; Prof. Sola Olorunyomi; Prof. Nelson Fashina; Tunde Kelani, the Cinematographer; and students, amongst others.

The screening also featured a performance by the Ibadan Jazz Forum.
