The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has declared a 14-day warning strike scheduled to begin at midnight on Monday, October 13, 2025.
This was contained in a statement issued by the union and signed by its President, Prof. Chris Piwuna, after an emergency press conference held at the Festus Iyayi National Secretariat, University of Abuja.
According to the statement, all branches of ASUU have been directed to withdraw their services for the duration of the warning strike, which will be total and comprehensive.
The union explained that the action follows the expiration of a 14-day ultimatum earlier given to the Federal Government to address its lingering demands.
ASUU further pleaded the understanding of students and parents, inviting patriotic Nigerians, including, workers, media practitioners and civil society activists to join them in this decision which they described as “a transformational mission”
