Following the Request for a Statement of Defence by the Students’ Representative Council, University of Ibadan, Nice Linus has responded with a letter requesting for clarification from the SRC.

In the letter, dated 4th June 2025, Nice reminded the SRC of its stance regarding her status as a member of the 12th Assembly of the SRC.

She reminded the Council of a release, attached to her letter, they had made in March in which the Speaker of the house had detailed reasons why she should not be reinstated as a member of the 12th Assembly.

Based on this, Linus stated that she was only “an ordinary member of the Union.” She further cited an article from the Constitution which stated that the SRC Disciplinary Committee could only summon or punish members of the Council instead of members of the Union.

She further raised concerns about the veracity of the release sent to her. She revealed how unknown numbers had been reaching out to her since “someone, whom I presume is the President of the Students’ Union, referred my number to the Department of State Security (DSS) for a case of ‘altercation’.”

She revealed that the release had also been sent to her by a strange number who had replied to her inquiries as to his identity with “You shall ask no questions.”

She sought clarification for every issue raised in her letter, “including the neglected issue of my due recognition as a member of the Council and the Conduct of the Disciplinary Committee.”

As of the time of filing this report, the SRC had yet to reply to Nice.
