Veterinary Medicine Holds Induction Ceremony, Awards Cash Prizes

The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine has on Tuesday, June 3, inducted 42 graduands of the 2023/24 Academic Session into the fold of Vet Doctors.

The event which marked its 54th Induction Ceremony, was held at the Faculty’s Auditorium and had many dignitaries as well as parents and Inductees in attendance.

Some of the distinguished guests included, the Aare Gbo-Gbo of Remoland and President of the Kotko group, Dr. Kola Oyefeso, the President, Veterinary Council of Nigeria, Prof. Matthew Adamu, Chairman, Noble F. M. Ibadan, Prince Adekanbi and a host of others. Guest of Honour for the Day was Alhaja Adesina Aminat, CEO, AMSA Vet Services Limited.

Also in attendance was the Vice Chancellor, represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics, the Registrar, Prof. Dotun Fadipe, the Dean of Law, sub-deans and other lecturers of the faculty.

Following the oath-taking ceremony, administered by the Registrar, some of the Graduands were presented with awards of excellence and leadership.

Among them, Dr. Favour Ajibade, was crowned the overall Best Graduating student of the 2023/24 Academic Session.

He was followed closely by Dr. Okewale Toheeb, Dr. Oladiran Deborah and Dr. Adeyemi Oluwaseyi who came Second, Third and Third respectively.Other students of the Faculty were also presented with awards for academic excellence.

Cyriacus Fortunate, 400-Level was awarded the best in Pathology and Microbiology and presented with a sum of 750 Dollars.

Jumoh Uthman Olatunji, best in Physiology and Anatomy was awarded 250 Dollars, while Dr. Favour Ajibade was awarded the sum of 500 Dollars as Overall Best Graduating Students.Prof. Ayenuyo, the induction lecturer advised the inductees to stand tall, as they had earned their positions by hard work and deserved the highest accolades.

“You did not fabricate your impressive ‘Doctor of Veterinary Degree’,” he said. “You earned it through hard work.”

The Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Olufunke E. Oladavies, expressed her gratitude to all the lecturers and distinguished guests in attendance, saying what an honor it was for her to have served the Faculty in her capacity.

She further hinted at her retirement from the post which she said was extremely close at hand.The occasion ended with the recital of the national and school anthems.
