The Department of Political science has defeated Wood Production Engineering (WPE), in their last group encounter on Wednesday to finish top of group F.
Political science began the encounter with the assurance that a point would confirm their qualification into the nest round but the social science outfit did all but settle for a draw.
The game was a balanced end to end one until WPE player received his matching orders having received his second booking of the game. The player received a second booking following his theatrical fall in the opponent’s half after a challenge with the goalkeeper.
At the other end, Political science mounted pressure on the WPE backline and scored the opening goal of the game.
Despite going one man down, WPE stayed in the game and nullified the political science attack who were now looking to double their lead.
The game ended 1-0 in Political Science’s favor who finish top in group F with 7 points. Despite the loss, WPE finish second with 6 points and will be joining their Social Sciences counterpart in the next round.
