Members of the University of Ibadan Students’ Representative Council (SRC) on April 7th, 2023 have voted against the adoption of recommendations made by the Council’s Disciplinary Committee which was set up to investigate the improper handling of the UISU TV by the Public Relations Officer, Olalekan Michael Ajibola
The SRC is set to reject the recommendations of the Hon. Adoko Idoyi led disciplinary committee.
The 5-man committee after establishing that the PRO breached the constitution and abused his office, recommended that the PRO be suspended for three weeks and that he writes a public apology to the generality of Uites, among other recommendations.
However, the house is about to reject the recommendations of the disciplinary committee after a secret-ballot system of voting was conducted, in which forty-five (45) honourables voted against the recommendation and twenty-seven (27) voting in support of the recommendations.
At the moment, the house is embroiled in a fierce debate around stipulating the appropriate punishment for the PRO.
Observers, excluding Pressmen have been sent out of the chamber
