Nnamdi Azikwe hall (Baluba Lion) has emerged as the winner of the University of Ibadan Students’ Union football competition.
Nnamdi Azikwe on Friday 24th September defeated Sultan Bello 3:1 Ft in the final match of the competition.
A mistake by the keeper of the Sultan Bello hall team a few minutes after the commencement of the match, cost them the first goal.15 minutes later, the Baluba lion scored the second goal. A defensive error by the Zik team cost them a penalty in the first half of the match thereby ending the first half with 2:1.
Attempts by both teams to score in the second half of the competition became difficult, a last minutes goal by the Zik team however gave them a total victory over the sultans.
In the female category, Queen Idia hall defeated Obafemi Awolowo hall in a penalty shoot-out. Both teams had earlier played a 1:1 draw in the full time of the competition.
With the final whistle, Queen Idia hall alongside Nnamdi Azikwe Hall emerged champions of the UISU football Competition.
Present at the closing ceremony was the Special Adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde on Student Affairs Mr Victor Olojede.
Prizes and Medals were given to the first, second and third positions of each category that participated in the competition.
