Will Laycon Win Big Brother Naija Lockdown?

Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and on any social media platform, Laycon is the most talked about Big Brother Naija housemate. At the beginning, it was all about insults. Some compared him to an agbero, a thug. Some said he is not Big Brother’s standard and quality. Some said he was out of place and use the fence to enter Big Brother’s house. A lot of disparaging comments were said about him but as they say “Any publicity is good publicity”.

Laycon’s instagram followers grew that night from just 3k to 10k. As the competition progressed, the audience started to see different sides of Laycon. They saw the smart side, the cool side, the rapper, the musician. Many people were led to believe that intelligence, brilliance and smartness can’t be judged in looks. He was underrated a first but he was beginning to get accepted by the audience. It

The story changed for him after that. His haters became his lovers. His fans (popularly known as Icons) increased. His followers on twitter and Instagram skyrocketed. His EP Who is Laycon? on Audiomack was being streamed on a daily. Today, it has close to 3million streams on Audiomack. At a point, his EP and songs were among the top 10 streamed music on Apple and Audiomack. Some people call it grace, some people call it smartness.

Laycon, (even though some people consider him “short and ugly” and his body “a drumstick of chicken”) is the most followed Big brother Naija housemate both on Twitter and Instagram.  As at the time of writing this article, he boasts of 947k Instagram followers and 234k followers on twitter. His recently created Facebook page has over 13k followers.

Laycon has done well in tasks, winning 16 of them so far including the Johnny Walker task in which he won 1 million naira and a trip to Scotland. His total winnings in the tasks is close to 3 million naira plus other valuable items.

What attracted many people to him is his calm demeanour and his ability to stay away from fights and trouble.  This attitude of his was shown in the fight Erica had with him. Erica threw many horrible insults at him, calling him all sort of names and yet he still managed to keep his cool. Laycon did not get angry even for a single second amidst all the body shaming he was experiencing that moment. He also does not care if someone underrates him or not, he still moves on to do his thing. He rises above criticisms and doesn’t let them get to him.

This attitude has not only made the viewers attracted to him, it has also drawn housemates closer to him. He is one of the most respected housemates in the house.

Everybody watching Big Brother Naija lockdown seems sure and absolutely certain that Laycon will win Big Brother Naija 2020. This assertion was even made stronger when his supposed closest rival Erica was disqualified from the big brother’s house after collecting her third strike for breaking big brother’s rules. The assertion was further strengthened when he had 41.41% of total votes cast when he was last nominated for eviction.

His philosophical views and ideologies, his smartness, brilliance, intelligence, vibe, talent that people see in him have made them to continue voting for him. If things continue going this way and barring disqualification, then yes, Laycon will win Big Brother Naija Lockdown 2020.
