The National Association of University Students (NAUS), on Wednesday, staged a peaceful protest in Ibadan, Oyo state capital.

According to the National Chairman of the association, Comrade Shittu Adeniyi, the protest was necessary to register the frustration of Nigerian students over the prolonged ASUU strike and at the same time advocate for a permanent end to the strike.

The convergence point of the protest was fixed for the University of Ibadan gate but this was changed overnight for reasons not disclosed by the association. Students, however, converged at Trans Amusement Park and marched down to the Secretariat despite the low turnout.

The Special Assistant to Oyo State Governor on Student Affairs, Victor Olojede, and men of the Oyo state Police Command, were present to ensure that the protest was not hijacked by hoodlums.

The Students’ Union, University of Ibadan was also represented by its Public Relations Officer, Olalekan Michael (OMA).
