UI’SU Executive Council Releases Official Statement on Assault of Students During Its Inauguration Ceremony

In a secular released on Sunday 9th of March, the Executive council of the University of Ibadan Students’ Union made a release welcoming Uites to the new administration and addressing the assault of various students at UI’SU Inauguration Ceremony.

During the inauguration ceremony which took place on 7th of March 2025, students of the University of Ibadan, including members of the press were slapped and thrown out of the hall, with some of their phones getting seized.

“We acknowledge the unfortunate altercations that occurred between security personnel and some students during the inauguration ceremony on Friday, March 7, 2025.”

“The manner in which the affected students were escorted out of the venue does not reflect the values we uphold as a Union. “

“In response, we acted swiftly to address the situation, ensuring that all involved students were cleared and that any seized items were returned.”

“We can confirm that all affected students are safe, and no one will face disciplinary action as a result of the incident.” The secular stated.
