The 9th Assembly of the Students Representative Council (SRC), University of Ibadan on Saturday, December 11 2021 confirmed members of the Union’s Standing Committee. The confirmation took place during the council’s seating, headed by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Eniola Olatoye, held at the SRC Chamber.
The motion for the consideration of members of the Standing Committee was moved as it was not initially stated in the day’s list of agenda. The Standing Committee comprises of four units, which are Library and Publication Committee, Union Staff Committee, Disciplinary Committee, and the Finance Committee.
The Union Staff Committee according to the Union’s constitution is made up of four members of the SRC and the house secretary who is the head. The SRC members in the committee are Hon. Abdulahi Ajibade, Hon. Ismail Lawal, Hon. Daniel and Hon. Ogah Fortune.
The Finance Committee comprises all Finance Commissioners in Halls of Residence.
The Disciplinary Committed includes the Chief Whip alongside 3 members from the SRC who were elected on Saturday’s sitting.
After a secret ballot election, honorable members who make up the Disciplinary Committee (alongside the Chief Whip) are Hon. Chukuwma Chisom from Sultan Bello Hall with 44 votes, Hon. Mercy Badmus of Queen Idia Hall with 43 votes and Hon. Idoko Adoyi of The Great Independence Hall with 34 votes.
Lastly, the Library and Publication, which comprises the Union’s PRO, secretaries of all registered chapters of the Literary and Debating Society, and a member of the SRC. Hon. Anita from Obafemi Awolowo Hall was included in the committee after winning an election in the house against Hon. Onah of Queen Idia Hall.
