UI Updates 2024/2025 Academic Calendar Following ASUU Strike

The University of Ibadan has updated its academic calendar for the 2024/2025 session, with the revised schedule released on November 3, 2025. The adjustment, which circulated across students’ WhatsApp groups as a PDF document, is in response to the two-week warning strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), which reportedly took place from October 7 to October 21, 2025.

The strike, which interrupted the second semester’s 11-week stretch of teaching and revision, necessitated a shift in key academic activities to allow adequate completion of the semester.

According to the updated calendar, the General Studies (GES) examinations will now be held from November 24 to November 28, 2025, as against the earlier scheduled dates of November 10 to November 14, 2025.

Similarly, examinations in faculties such as Law, Education, Pharmacy, Technology, Agriculture, Clinical Sciences, and Basic Medical Sciences have been rescheduled to run from December 1 to December 12, 2025, a shift from the initial dates of November 17 to November 28, 2025.

Faculties under the Sciences, Arts, Social Sciences, Economics and Management Sciences, and Veterinary Medicine will also experience corresponding adjustments in their examination periods as the examination period will last till the 31st of December, 2025.

Students’ reactions to the adjustment remain mixed, with some appreciating the extended preparation time while others express concerns about overlapping academic and holiday plans.
