The newly elected executives of the University of Ibadan Students’ Union have been inaugurated by the university management.

The new members of the SU executive council, as well as newly elected members of the Students Representative Council, were sworn in at the inauguration ceremony which was held on Saturday, November 13, 2021.

The new executive council is led by Adewole Adeyinka a.k.a Mascot, the new president of the Students Union.

Other members of the council are Oluotanmi Zainab as the Vice President; Bamidele Taiwo, General Secretary; Arinola David, Assistant General Secretary; Daniel Abigail, Treasurer; Olaniyan Mathew, House Secretary, Olalekan Michael, Public Relation Officer; and Olawale Joshua, Sports Secretary.

Speaking at the event, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Kayode Adebowale, appreciated the immediate past SU President, Oluwasegun Akeju, “for a job well done”; he then encouraged the new president to continue where his predecessor stopped.

In his exhortation, he warned the new executives not to forget that they were called to serve and grow, hence they should fulfill all they had promised but not at the expense of their academics.

“Keep in mind that history is waiting and watching all that you do, therefore lead the First and Best University so that others can follow. However, as you are answering the call to serve, also answer the call to grow, as the Union is growing, you must also grow,” he advised.

Meanwhile, he pledged his support to the new administration saying he is “available to listen and reason with them.” He further challenged the new executives to lead the first and best University well so that others can emulate them.

Also present at the events were the Registrar, represented by the Deputy Registrar (Student Affairs), Tijani Musa; Dean of Students, Professor Adekeye Abiona; Deputy Dean of Students, Dr. Demola Lewis; and Victor Oloyede, the Special Adviser to Oyo State Governor on students affairs.
