UI: 80 veterinary medicine students get inducted into the professional council

Today, March 10, 2021, is a day of felicitation for 2018/2019 veterinary medicine graduands as 80 of them get inducted officially into the profession.

Present in the event were, Acting Vice Chancellor, University of Ibadan; Professor AB Ekanola, Dean, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine; Professor OB Adedeji, Deputy Vice chancellor Research; Professor Olanike Adeyemo, President Veterinary Council; AIG (Dr)Abubakar., Distinguished Alumni of the Faculty.

In his speech, the Dean of the Faculty, Professor OB Adedeji, congratulated the inductees for their great success. He appreciated the university for providing the appropriate material used for the training of the students. He revealed that a graduand, Dr Adeyemo Abraham Adedayo had 11 distinctions, shattering the present record of 7 distinctions and setting a new record.

In the words of the President of Veterinary Medicine Council, AIG (Dr) Aishatu Abubakar, said Council looking forward to having standards Veterinary Schools in the six(6) geographical area of the nation. She urged the graduands to ensure their accreditation into the profession as this will ensure that they are legally recognized. She told the inductees four(4) keys that will aid their future practice in the profession. These includes;

1. Their personal comportment.

2. Their relationship with their colleagues

3. Their relationship with their clients without any special treatment.

4 Most importantly ,their relationship with the veterinary council.

The acting VC,Professor AB Ekanola, in his speech  congratulated the best inductee and continued by congratulating everyone for being a part of the occasion. He urged the inductees to go into the profession with a positive mindset. He admonished them to be a good ambassador of the university.

The event proceeded with the oath taking and swearing in of the inductees by Dr Ezenwa, which was followed by the issuing of certificates by AIG (Dr) Abubakar.

Dr Femi Kayode, one of the guests promised employ two(2) of the inductees. Cash awards and certificates of recognition were presented to students across the levels. A plaque and a cash price was given to the best inductee. Awards of distinction were presented to the distinguished alumni present.
