UCJUI ORGANISES LUNCHEON/AWARD CEREMONY

The 29th administration of the Union of Campus Journalists, University of Ibadan, under the leadership of Mr. Oredola Ibrahim, has organised a luncheon/award ceremony on the 5th of November 2016.

The event which took place at Sultan Bello Hall Dome, saw the end of the 29th administration and the commencement of the 30th administration, under the leadership of Mr. Arowosafe Samuel, who was the Public Relatioredola Ibrahimons Officer of the previous administration.

Mr. Oredola Ibrahim while giving his outgoing speech said the journey was not an easy one, but thanked God for guiding the administration till the very end, he urged the new executives to be prepared for the challenges that would emerged, as the journey will not be all rosy.

“There were times when I felt like running away from Suite 14, Students’ Union Building (UCJ Secretariat), but I just had to tell myself that I had to see it to the end.”

“I came, I saw, I saw”, he said, as he ended his speech.

Mr. Arowosafe Samuel, the new President of the Union appreciated the effort of the 29th administration and also, thanked the Union for giving him the opportunity to serve in another capacity. He encouraged members of his cabinet to be prepared for more actions and less words.

The event was honored by the Staff Adviser of the Union, Professor Egbokhare, and former members of the Union; Mr. Fisayo Soyombo, Mr. Tijani Mayowa, Mr. Habeeb Kolade (Professor X), Mr. Abraham Oladipupo, Mr. Folayemi Kayode, Mr. Promise Ihezie, Mr. Akinkuade Akintayo-Jude, Mr. Titiladunayo Daniel, Mr. Ore Afolayan, Mr. Sola Fagorusi (Former President, ACJ, OAU, 2007), among others.

Awards were given to different individuals and press organizations and the winner of the annual Fisayo Soyombo essay competition, Mr. Adekunle Adebajo, was also announced and rewarded with a cheque of N100,000 during the event.

Also, the winners of the Hammed Ibrahim Photo Contest, Mr. Rufai Sodiq, Miss Opeodu Pascaline and Mr. Olatunji Haleem, were rewarded with cash prizes as they emerged first, second and third respectively.
