SRC Issues Further Directives on Oma’s Punishment

The University of Ibadan Students’ Representative Council (SRC) has announced in the resolution of its 7th sitting further directives guiding the disciplinary actions approved for the Public Relations Officer of the Union, Olalekan Micheal for his constitutional misconduct.

UCJUI had reported how the house approved the penalty that includes a fine of Twenty-five (25) thousand naira, a public apology letter to the student body of the University of Ibadan, an apology letter to the 9th assembly of the SRC and community service.

UCJUI learnt that the community service shall be observed by the PRO at the University Health Service (Jaja Clinic) between the 17th of April and 21 of April, 2023. The house also directed that there must be no media coverage of the PRO’s time observing the community service except by officially recognized press organizations on campus.

“That any violation of the above, especially any attempt to make use of the community service punishment as a PR/publicity opportunity will be punished by the house,” the resolution reads partly.

The house also fined the Union’s treasurer to write a public apology to the entire student community for negligence of duty before 4 pm on the 12th of April, 2023.

The following faculty presidents were also sworn in to become full members of the house in accordance with Article XVII(iv) provision of the constitution. The presidents are; Mr Kingsley Chukwuma, the president of the faculty of the Social Sciences, Mr. Bello Hassan, Environmental Design, Mr Victor Somoye, Dentistry, Mr. Emmanuel Akinyoola, Arts, Mr. Ridwan Okeshola, Economics, Mr. Oreoluwa Mustapha, Public Health, and Mr. Oluwatobiloba Adewale of the faculty of Science.
