The department of Geography defeated the department of Philosophy 10-9 on penalties at the final of this year’s Science Education Arts Law and Social Sciences (SEALS) Cup.

Both teams faced gruelling fixtures in the run up to the final, with Philosophy narrowly beating K.H.E on penalties, while Geography also scratched past Classics in the same manner. As such, fans were assured of a grand spectacle in the final match.

The initial minutes of the game started conservatively, as both teams tried to figure each other out. However, as the first half progressed, Philosophy carved out more chances. The best chance falling to their forward, John, whose header from a set piece flew inches over the crossbar.

In fact, there was a moment when Philosophy thought they had taken the lead few minutes to halftime, when the number eleven scrambled the ball into the net, but the goal was chalked off for offside by the centre referee, Eduviere Allen.

The second half produced a much balanced and exciting encounter, as both teams hustled to cancel each other out. However, the final could not be decided after two halves and the match went into penalty shootouts.

The shootout was not devoid of of well placed shots by the two teams. Both teams scored their initial five kicks to take it into sudden death. In the end, Geography scored 10 penalties while Philosophy missed their last kick to ensure that Geography were crowned champions of the 2022 SEALS Cup.

Meanwhile, K.H.E finished third after they defeated Classics 2-1 earlier on.
