On Sunday 15th June 2025, the last 8 teams in the female category of the ongoing SEALS Cup battled it out at the old SUB Pitch for a spot in the semi-finals. The Matchday which featured the quarterfinal round of matches rained goals as at least one goal was scored in the 4 match centers. At the end of the quarterfinal round, the departments of Philosophy, Statistics, Archeology/Anthropology and Human Kinetics secured a place in the semi finals.

Philosophy kicked off the day with a win to continue their unbeaten run in their quest for gold. Heritage’s strike directly from kickoff sealed the win for Plato Femini despite chances for EHS in the remainder of the game. The second game was an Aliyah Show as she scores a brace to give statistics a 2-0 win against Sarah’s Forestry. Sarah herself had a couple of chances in the game but could not convert. The third game was a Remontada affair between the departments of Archaeology/Anthropology and History. Augustine’s goal for the Obaro ladies was cancelled out by strikes from Kemi and Odunayo. This result gave Archeology/Anthropology a spot in the semi-finals.

The last match of the day was one with drama and last minute heartbreak as the departments of Human Kinetics and Physiotherapy battled it out for a place in the next round. After a goalless first half, Debby of human Kinetics opened up the scoring to give her side the lead from a thunderous strike. This lead was however shortlived as Feyi put her side back in the game seconds later. Few seconds and a Goalkeeper error later, KHE regained the lead after Physiotherapy Goalkeeper put the ball into the back of her own net. Feyi again, came to the rescue seconds before the end of regulation time as she cut through the Human Kinetics defense for an equalizer to drag the game to a penalty shootout.

Physiotherapy went for the first spot kick through Feyi, but she missed. Hope then seemed renewed as KHE’s first penalty taker also missed. In a bid to regain confidence, the Physiotherapy’s second spot kick was taken, however it was beautifully saved by Tayo Gold of KHE. Debby, the regular time goalscorer for KHE, took the second spot kick for her team to slot the ball beautifully beyond the Physiotherapy goalkeeper. With Physiotherapy’s third spot kick saved again by Tayo Gold, the win was sealed for the KHE girls to secure them a spot in the semi-finals.

For the semi-final round of matches, KHE would face off against the Department of Archeology/Anthropology while Plato Femini would continue their quest for a gold medal, this time in a battle against Aliya’s Statistics. All matches would take place at the Old SUB Pitch.
