MBBS edged past Chemistry in the Seals Cup round of 16 after a 2-1 victory on Wednesday evening.
MBBS asserted dominance early on carving out their first chance in the first three minutes, but the ball went just wide. However, they didn’t take long to break the deadlock. In the 8th minute, MBBS capitalized on a corner kick, converting it with a well-placed header to take a 1-0 lead.Chemistry came close to finding an equalizer.
A promising shot on goal almost leveled the score, but the MBBS goalkeeper came up with a crucial save to keep them ahead.
There was another attempt by Chemistry’s left wing-back, Lithium, as he delivered a clever through ball, but once again, the MBBS keeper was quick off his line to snuff out the danger.
With just four minutes until halftime, Chemistry’s goalkeeper made his first vital save, preventing MBBS from doubling their advantage. MBBS continued the aggression, creating a one-on-one opportunity with the goalkeeper within the 8th minute of restart, but their striker shoots it wide of the post.
Chemistry made their first change shortly after—Oxygen was subbed off, and minutes later, their number 9 had to be replaced due to injury in the 13th minute of the second half.MBBS eventually found their second goal with a long-range strike in the 28th minute, making it 2-0 and seemingly putting the game out of reach.
However, Chemistry managed to pull one back just two minutes later to bring the score to 2-1.Despite a late push from Chemistry, MBBS held firm to secure the win and a spot in the next round.
